Secretary/Treasurer Bill Williams read the "Minutes" from the July 10th 1999 meeting. Jean Fells made a motion to accept the minutes as read, seconded by Willard Farmer. The motion was approved by a unanimous vote. Mr. Williams also gave a brief "Treasurer's Report" with his commitment to provide a detail accounting of the Islands finances via a report to be distributed with the minutes of our July 8th 2000 meeting. Bill Graham reported to the Island that the Aurora Vets Club "rent" of the building for the day was $75.00. Harlan Compton made a motion to pay the Aurora Vets Club $75.00, seconded by Bob Proctor. The motion passed unanimously. The Island membership discussed retention of the annual membership and how many times the Island is willing to expend money for postage to remind members that dues were due. Bob Proctor made the motion, that we contact the delinquent annual members a maximum of (3) times to remind/encourage them to pay their dues, and to inform them, that the names of all those members who are "paid up" prior to 30 days after the day the Secretary Treasurer sends the next "reminder", will be printed on the Nebraska, Island X-1, Charter as "Charter Members". Motion Seconded by Harlan Compton. The motion passed unanimously. The Secretary/Treasurer informed the Island, that he had received notification from several widows of the death of their Seabees. The Island discussed how to fund the purchase of "Sympathy Cards" to be sent to the widows of Nebraska veterans. Bob Proctor suggested that we all initially contribute $10.00 to start a "fund" to insure we are always able to have sympathy cards on hand, and with the death of each Seabee, we each contribute an additional $1.00. Willard Farmer made the motion to create this "Memorial Fund" (in the way described above), seconded by Gallen Young and the motion passed unanimously. Everyone opened their wallet and pulled out a $10.00 bill. We collected $230.00 specifically "earmarked" for this "Memorial Fund" (not to be spent for any other reason). The Island discussed "Time and Place" for our next meeting/reunion. Jimmy Hugh made the motion to return to Aurora, seconded by Bob Proctor and the motion passed unanimously. Two separate dates were proposed, so we voted on them. July 7th 2001 (17 votes) and July 14th 2001 (1 vote). Our next meeting/reunion will be held again at the Vets Club, Aurora, NE on July 7th 2001. We conducted our Elections of Officers. The following are the results of our election: Commander: Gogan (9), Farmer (3), Hough (2), Young (0), and Poole (9). Because of the "Tie Vote". We voted again on just Gogan & Poole and John Gogan received the majority of votes. Vice Commander: Farmer (9) Poole (7), Zeiger (3), Young (4). Secretary/Treasurer: Williams (only nominate).
